Grant 3.0

Working · conversational layer in development

Grant, the General Reasoning Assistant for Navigation and Tasks, is a private digital butler I designed to help me work with the intense focus, distraction and information overload associated with dyslexia and ADHD.

Every morning it gathers information from the parts of my life I have chosen to connect, checks it against my priorities, and produces a focused dossier for the day.

It has become the most useful tutor and organisational system I have had, because it works around the way I naturally think.

How it works

The working system gathers sources, ranks priorities, produces the daily briefing and speaks it aloud, with local connectors for my calendar, reminders and mail. Behind the voice sits a council of models working together, alongside sovereign local models, so that no single remote system holds the whole of my working life.

Grant also creates a protective layer between me and institutions whose business depends on collecting personal data. I would rather own the memory my tools produce.

Versions

Grant 1.0 was a gift to my younger brother, and got the character and the social graph of its user right. Grant 2.0 joined that character to the study tool I used through my first university year. Grant 3.0 is the fully conversational layer, in development now; it is not presented here as complete.

Three versions: a gift, a study companion, a conversation.

Reflection

Convenience is not neutral: every delegated decision is a small transfer of authorship. But cognitive offload, honestly designed, is what lets a mind whose ideas outrun its execution finally build what it imagines. The work holds both truths at once.
